Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana is a world-class academic centre of excellence, spearheading West Africa’s pursuit of technological advancement.


The goal of the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is to raise the next generation of ethical and transformative leaders who would influence change on the African Continent.


The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (MCFSP at KNUST) provides academically talented yet economically disadvantaged young people in Ghana and Africa with access to quality university education. The Program offers an opportunity for its scholars to receive holistic training that empowers them to be change leaders. The Scholars Program embodies an array of services including mentorship, cultural transition, etc. that will lead to the scholar’s academic success, community engagement and transition to employment opportunities which will further the goal of social and economic transformation of Africa.


ELIGIBILITY

For the 2021/2022 Academic year all Applicants must have GCE O’Level and A Level or their equivalent. In addition:

  1. The Applicant must demonstrate that he/she has Critical Economic Needs.

  2. The Applicant must have Proven Records of Leadership and Community Engagement(s).

  3. Priority shall be given to Females, displaced persons (certified refugees, internally displaced persons, etc.), and persons living with disability

  4. The Applicant must be prepared to Go-Back and Give-Back to his or her Community.

  5. The Applicant must NOT be enrolled in any tertiary institution


SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

UNIVERSITY APPLICATION

All international students must pay a USD 150.00 application fee (equivalent to E2,200.00). The application can be completed online at https://apps.knust.edu.gh/admissions/. International applicants are further required to submit two (2) copies of the online application and other relevant documents via courier (DHL or FEDEX) to the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs) KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana.


Undergraduate bachelors courses at KNUST are 4 years minimum in length. Applicants must have FIVE credits at the GCE/IGCSE O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics (or its approved equivalent), plus passes in at least THREE (3) subjects at the Advanced Level/Three Credits in the case of mature applicants. In addition, the applicant must fulfill the appropriate Faculty or Departmental requirements.


Medicine / dental surgery requirements - Credits in at least FIVE (5) O’ Level Subjects including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent, plus THREE (3) passes at the A’ Level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics


Engineering requirements - FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level including English and Mathematics, plus Passes at A’ Level in: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Physics with an ‘O’ Level credit in Chemistry OR Passes at A’ Level in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

For the scholarship application, please download a copy of the 2021/2022 application form from the scholarship website and complete it. Submit the completed application form through courier mail (e.g. FEDEX or DHL). In addition, international applicants must submit these additional documents;

  • The printout of your application for admission at KNUST.

  • Original Certificates for both O’Level and A Level results
